Travel in Belarus

Hi we are going to Belarus on 2 July, staying the first night in Minsk, from there we want to travel to Cherikov where we will be staying with a family from which we have previously hosted a little girl, on 2 occasions, from there we are looking to travel back to Mogilev, where we will stay 1 night before heading back to minsk, our plan is to experience as much as possible while there and one experience would be to travel from Cherikov to Mogilev, then mogilev to minsk by the local train network, unfortunatley i can not find a web site with times/details etc, has anyone out there done this, and if so can you help. we will post our experiences on our trip for others to share when we get back thank you in advance

Mogilev - Minsk 7:51am - 10:51am everyday

there is also 18:00 - 23:02 train ( that train actually is on Yhecha-Grodno run)

also get their %26quot;first class%26quot; on the day trains only 2 people allowed per cabin ( you can get up to 4 people although). That 7:51 trains actually not so bad at all.

Now I%26#39;m pretty sure Cherikov (Mogilev region )doesn%26#39;t have train station, you have to take train to Mogilev and then bus or something (not sure)

Hi webeagle12.

Would you recommend travelling 1st-class on all railway routes in Belarus, or just on the route specified above?

Well, it%26#39;s up to you.

If you don%26#39;t speak the language, if you prefer for some reason not to attract somebody%26#39;s attention - go first class(coupe or CB).

If not, if you want to know local life better, if you socialize easily - go usual way.

Frankly speaking the difference between those classes is not very big. You just travel with less people in the compartment 2, 4 or 6(the cheapest for short distance). All the rest is the same. If you have to spend a night in the train - better take %26quot;Coupe%26quot;-class or CB-class.

As far as I am concerned, I always go usual way(called %26quot;platzcart%26quot;-class). I think it%26#39;s wiser from the point of view of money paid.

Last year once I got a cheapest tickets to Minsk-Mogilev train and after 25 hours of traveling on plane or waiting in airport, this was like hell on earth. We were all packed like sardines + barely any room, there is no such a thing %26quot;lay down and get a nap%26quot; ; and that was last year when they had 2 trains running Minsk-Mogilev, now apparently the only have one direct train to there and back. Plus it was in the summer, so it was like 100 degrees inside. Go with first class, its only cost barely $10 ( yeah that ten dollars).

I would say get First Class on all routes.

Many thanks to you both for your advice.
