surname meaning

Hi!

I%26#39;m from Latvia and I%26#39;m interested into my surname meaning - i suppose it could come from Belarus but I%26#39;m not quite sure..

My surname is Tuleiko. Could anyone tell me where it comes from and what is the meaning?

Your surname is very similiar to the surname of my mum which makes me think your ancestry was from South-East of Belarus, close to Ukraine.

If to take the stem of your surname it will be the stem of a Belarusian verb %26quot;tulitsa%26quot; which means %26quot;be close to some object%26quot;. This surname may also come from a Russian word %26quot;tulya%26quot; which means the upper major part of a hat, so maybe your ancetry were hatmakers or just were peasants who were very loyal to or always lived/built their houses close to some landlord.

You need to turn to professional surname trackers in order to find out the real historical background of your surname %26#39;cause I wrote all that stuff just from my experience.

Cheers

Could you please send the request to felix1877@mail.ru and somehow introduce yourself?

Thank you!
