internet access in Minsk

Want to check on internet access in Minsk. Do most of the major hotels have A) internet access for guest hook-up%26#39;s,

B) a %26quot;safe%26quot; room or box for valuables----such as a laptop, or

C) internet cafe%26#39;s within safe walking distance?

|||

there are a lot of internet cafes in Minsk, the problem is to find them:) i don%26#39;t know anything about hotels and what is there but if you decide to stay at hotel %26quot;Minsk%26quot;, there is an internet cafe on the opposite side of the road, in the Post Office:)

|||

The Hotel Minsk ( expensive) and the Hotel Belarus( cheaper) both have business centres on the premiese which will give you Internet access.

The actual Internet cafes are always full of rude young Belarussian girls writing to potential husbands

Travel from latvia to Belarus

I%26#39;m planning a visit to my mothers birthplace in northern Belarus, near the Latvian border. Is it possible to fly to Riga and hire a car to drive in to cross the border at Druja, east of Daugavpils ? Does anyone know if I can get a hotel in Mery or Dzisna ? Can I get by in Polish ?

Wojtek

Hi Wojtek ?

Hello Dominik,

Greetings to the Bieszczady mountains, which I have yet to visit.

Yes I am fluent in Polish but am not clear how widely it is now spoken in the area bordering Latvia, which prior to 1939 was in the norteastern corner of Poland.

Regards.

Train from Lviv to Minsk?

Hi - has anyone taken the train from Lviv Ukraine to Minsk Belarus? I will be there in September and have found the timetable on line, but this route doesn%26#39;t seem to be mentioned in any travel guides? Is this a local only service or for tourists too? Any first hand knowledge of this way of getting to Minsk?

Train 372 - Lviv – Minsk 18:58pm – 9:00am

The answer is yes, I have done it before, but I always prefer to have my visa in my passport before getting on the train. We have written about visa requirements in our online travel guide to Belarus here:

http://www.travelswise.com/belarus.htm

|||

Sorry, I am sleppy...I meant: I prefer to have my visa in my passport before getting on the PLANE.

Please note that you have to have a travel agent MEET the plane and provide the necessary documentation for you to get your visa at the Minsk Airport. This is also mentioned in our travel guide.
