First Time in Minsk

I will visit Minsk for the first time later next week and stay at the Hotel Minsk.

This trip will mainly be business, but I might be able to spare a bit of time during the evenings.

Any special advise what to do in the evenings, where to go etc?

Unfortunately I do not speak russian language, just English/German.

Will that still be enough to get me around? Or do I need a guide that translates? And where do find one?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Hello, Rolf283.

Sorry if i am late.

The guide services are quite expensive, but lots of tourism agencies would love to help you. You can contact Belintourist belintourist.by or AlatanTour http://www.welcomebelarus.com/

or TopTour http://toptour.by/new/content/eng/home.php

or CentrKurort http://otpusk.by/ru/sanatory/334.html#it249

Hotel Minsk is very good and i am sure the staff of the hotel will be able to help you to chose the right place to go in the evenings.

Be aware that in the evening it is quite difficult to find a place in restaurants, bars or cafes, so its better to ask the ataff at the hotel to book a table for you - it caosts nothing. I also recommend you to visit Belarussian Opera or Ballet. Ballet is now being performed on the stage of the Republican Palace, which is situated a few minutes walk from the Hotel. There is also a very good art gallery just in front of the Hotel near Adidas shop. You can also go to some night clubs in Minsk - Gudvin (again a few minutes walk from the hotel) - a neutral normal place to have a few glasses of beer, or Izum - kind of a posh one (near the Republican Palace).

Hope you have a good time.

You know guide services are rather expensive in Minsk.
