Belarussian Visa

I have read on the BBC News website and other reliable news sources that the US ordered to close our embassy in Minsk about a week ago, and also close the Belarussian Embassy in Washington D.C. I am planning a trip to Bobruisk, Belarus in June and I have already received my letter of invitation from the family I will be staying with. Since the embassies have closed, will there be any way I can get my visa in time? Thanks for your help!

hello Rachelj624:)

i have similar situation but a guest is coming to me from the usa in june:) if you arrive here by plane you can get you visa at the airport and thus you don%26#39;t have to worry about anything. the situation with visas and embassies in washington may be a little bit difficult because my sister and her husband who are coming in july rushed to get visa some days ago:) so if it doesn%26#39;t work out with the embassy in washington you can get your visa at the airport upon your arrival in Minsk:)

Ok, thank-you very much! I did not know that it was possible to get a visa after arriving at the airport in Minsk. Now I will be able to relax a bit more : ) Thanks again!

Guys, don%26#39;t be so optimnistic. You cannot just arrive at the airport and get a visa - there must be an invitation party in Belarus, who will take care of all paperwork.

Getting a tourist visa to Belarus

All you need is to book and prepay a hotel through a licensed travel agency in Belarus (you have to order two of any services they offer). The agency then sends a facsimile copy of the invitation to the Belarusian embassy (or to the airport).

According to the new amendment you don%26#39;t have to present the voucher in any form to the embassy, if you are a US (same rules for EU, Japan, Israel and Canada) citizen.

The embassies have NOT closed But it may still be difficult to get a visa because of the tension between the US and Belarus.

I have already received a letter of invitation from the family I will be visiting. I heard it%26#39;s still possible to get a visa at the airport if I have all the required documents, like the invitation, application, passport sized photo, and my passport with me. Is that true?

Thanks, Rachel

To obtain visa at the airport you submit:

1. A valid passport.

2. A completed application form .The form must be filled out completely, no blank spaces must be left. If a question does not apply, please type “N/A”. If the answer is none, write “NONE”. Incomplete forms will be returned to the applicants UNPROCESSED. The form should bear the original signature of applicant and must be well readable. Please, fill out in block letters.

3. One passport size photo of the applicant which should be stapled to the marked space at the upper right-hand corner of the application form. Do not staple the face.

4. An original letter of invitation (not a copy).

It%26#39;s a quote from our consular department at the airport
