Hostels / Cheap accomodation / Transport...

Hello all,

myself and a friend are coming to minsk, just for one or two nights, as part of a trip around eastern europe. I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer:

first of all, is there options for cheap (ie hostel) accomodation in Minsk? If not, how cheap are hotels? Any advice would be appreciated

secondly whilst we do not speak russian or belarussian, we do speak some czech. will people generally understand us?

thirdly, are there regular means of transportation to kiev from minsk?

Any answers would be much appreciated. Regards

Ugh, #1 if you don%26#39;t speak Russian or Belorussian, you going to have a tough time there. Most of the people have no knowledge of any foreign languages except like I said: Russian or Belorussian. Is it possible to survive? Yes, but its going to be a little tough. I hope this not going to throw you off from visiting Belarus and you are not a first person who%26#39;s have problem communicating in their language.

As for going from Minks to Kiev I would recommend going on train FIRST CLASS or business class (please DON%26#39;T buy their %26quot;economy class%26quot;, you don%26#39;t want to be there, take my advice). There is daily train from Minks to Kiev, please check times at station OR you have fly Belavia airlines Minsk-2 - Kiev.

AS for hotels, never stayed in Minsk overnight, sorry.

I hope you have fun.

Actually, many people know languages like English, but mainly in capital.

The main point is that you should get a transit visa if you go through Belarus in 48 hours.

You can also find a thing like a hostel on arrival, but I don%26#39;t know whether they would serve a foreigner (if they have license for that).

As travel agent I could give you a piece of advice, but we can%26#39;t advertise here, can we?
